Who sparked the uprising against Houthi Militia in Yemen

Who sparked the uprising against Houthi Militia in Yemen?
Mohammed Saeed Al-Sharabi:

Yemenis uprising against Houthi Militias continues in a confident pace, defeating the might of the rifles, to drop the coup.  Bearing this revolutionary vigor, students’ determination proves its capability to halt the Militia madness and restore the State from the grip of Houthis group.

More than four months after the beginning of the uprising against Houthi militias, imperative questions have emerged: (Who Lit the peaceful uprising against Houthis?), (How did they manage to break barriers of fear? ), and (where are they now, after the expansion of the uprising?).

To answer the questions about the beginnings of the uprising against the militias, and its fiery tracks amidst the madness of an armed group seized control of the State and try to subdue the others , by force of arms, who committed unspeakable crimes, that can be described as (fascism) against peaceful demonstrators.

History will record a fact that: Under the national and international silence, the Youth peaceful uprising spark started from Al-Zubairi street, Hayel street and the University neighborhood in Capital Sana’a. This uprising became a serious concern, particularly after the militias’ failure to bury the Youth peaceful uprising violently by killing and treacherous kidnapping of Youth.

One week after Sana’a downfall in the Militias’ hands (Black September), the youth activists’ demonstrations of (For Peaceful Homeland) campaign broke the barrier of fear among Yemenis from the consequences of the peaceful demonstrations against the armed militia who still in deep fantasy after their easy victories during the armed coup against the State.

Who are (For Peaceful Homeland ) campaign?:

(For Peaceful Homeland) Campaign is a youth students movement that paved the way for  Yemenis uprising against  Houthi Militias on September 28, 2014 – one week following the Militia invasion of Sana’a on September 21, 2014 -.

With strong determination and self-support, (For Peaceful Homeland) campaign’s activists worked on maintainin the continuation of the peaceful uprising against Houthi militias until the coup is dropped down , and Yemeni state is restored.

Establishing (For Peaceful Homeland) Campaign

The campaign was founded after convening several meetings by February11 youth activists, following the fall of Sana’a into Houthis hands. These activists agreed on the campaign’s name and the announcement of the first demonstration against the armed Militia and calling for their withdrawal from Sanaa’s streets and its neighborhoods on September 28, 2014.

It is a notable accomplishment that (For Peaceful Homeland) campaign took the lead and launched the uprising against Houthi Militia. Moreover, it reinforced the public confidence to fight peacefully against the presence of the armed groups by rising up the slogan (No To Militia … No To Terrorism). The public responded positively to the call for the campaign’s peaceful demonstration in Capital Sana’a, before the uprising expansion to the rest of the governorates.

On September 28, 2014, (For Peaceful Homeland) campaign called for the first peaceful demonstration demanding the withdrawal of all Houthis armed groups from Sana’a streets and its neighborhoods. The peaceful demonstrators condemned the Militias’ violations against the citizens and demanded the return of all loot from the public and private institutions.

The demonstrators of the peaceful march, which set off form Hayel Street and Al-Zubairy Street Junction in Sana’a city center, condemned the practices of Houthis groups and chanted “O Houthis .. Listen up: Yemeni people will not  kneel” “ From Sana’a to Amran .. No Houthis from now on” “From schools, remove all Barricades

The first peaceful demonstration’s statement of (For Peaceful Homeland) campaign included three demands: the withdrawal of the Militia from Sana’a; the return of all the security services to their duties in restoring and maintaining security and order; and reforming all the war damages.

Peaceful Homeland Campaign Broke the Fear Barrier:

The first campaign’s demonstration managed to break the fear barrier from the consequences of demonstrating against the Militia. The number of the participants in the second demonstration, on September 30, 2014, doubled up. This demonstration denounced all the various retaliatory attacks against all the Militias’ opponents

Amidst the national chants, the second demonstration marched from Al-Zubairy Street, starting from the building of Ministry of Youth and Sports to the end of Hayel Street. The peaceful demonstrators demanded the withdrawal of Houthis Militias from Sana’a and the imposition of State Sovereignty. Moreover, they condemned the national and international silence regarding Sana’a downfall in the hands of a sectarian militia.

The activists of (For Peaceful Homeland) campaign managed to reach out Yemeni people’s message of their right to have a peaceful life against violence and terrorism by holding up signs “ Houthis and Al-Qaida are two sides of one coin” “Violence and terrorism are two sides of one coin

(For Peaceful Homeland) Campaign Announced the Launch of University Students Uprising:

On October 25,2014, and after announcing the peaceful demonstration’s statement, the campaign declared the launch of the university students demonstrations against the presence of the armed Militia in Sana’a University campus

Based on this announcement, the first students demonstration set off from the university campus on October 29, 2014. The demonstration demanded the Houthis groups withdrawal from the university campus, and conducting the elections for Students Union. Following that they convened a press conference.

On that day, Houthis group announced the establishment of the so-called “Students’ Revolutionary Committees” and replacing the Militias by a force from a security company to safeguard the biggest educational institution in Yemen, as a response to the demonstrators’ demand.

On the other hand, Sana’a University Students considered the Militias’ announcement another detour on their legitimate demands. They confirmed the continuity of their peaceful demonstrations by rising a sarcastic slogan “ Do not Fool Me ,  Took off Thawb (Men’s cloth) and put on military suit”.
The acceleration of events pushed the activists of (For Peaceful Homeland) campaign and the university students to get out in one demonstration demanding the withdrawal of the Militia from Sana’a and other cities

Fearing from the peaceful demonstrations breadth, the Militia increased the violence against the peaceful demonstrators and the journalists through suppressing and kidnapping them. Eventually, the Militia declared its dangerous step: the coup to the State on January 21,2015.

(For Peaceful Homeland) Campaign Continued to Refuse the Coup:

Following the storming of the House of Presidency by the Militia, (For Peaceful Homeland) Campaign’s activists participated in the public peaceful demonstrations against the Houthis’ coup. Furthermore, they participated in organizing other demonstrations with (No To Coup) Movement and with all the active revolutionary movements.
In spite of all suppression practiced by the Houthis Militias against the demonstrators and hunting the activists by abducting tens of youth, (For Peaceful Homeland) and (No To Coup) activists, in cooperation with the rest of the revolutionary movements in Sana’a and other cities, worked on sustaining the uprising against the Houthi coup, supporting the legitimacy of State, and condemning the crimes committed against the demonstrators such as abduction and torturing them to death.

One of the recent activities of (For Peaceful Homeland) campaign was the launch of the Electronic campaign in three different languages, and organizing peaceful demonstrations during the last few days, hand in hand with (No To Coup) Movement, demanding the end of the house arrest imposed by the Militias against Khalid Bahah, the Government President, and other opponent governmental officials in Sana’a.
